Wichita Eagle Class 3A Football Rankings.   Seems unusual that there were no changes in the top 5 here,  but there were in the other publication's rankings. Wichita Collegiate's impressive win should have impressed the Witchita media.

Notes — Wichita Collegiate was in big trouble, trailing Class 4A Division II No. 3 Andale by 16 midway through the fourth quarter. But the Spartans got two touchdowns and two two-point conversions in the last five minutes and then stuffed a game-winning two-point conversion try by the Indians in overtime to pull out the 46-45 win.

Dawgs Roll To Easy Win Over Rock Creek

    The Dawgs took nearly three hours to do it,  but after two power outages they secured a 55-21 victory over the Rock Creek Mustangs.    Tucker Horak had over 350 yards on the ground after the first play of the fourth quarter.

Osage City Invitational Golf

       The RHS girls golf team competed in the Osage City Invitational at the Osage City Country Club on Sept. 17 coming in 8th of 8 teams.  However,  the RHS team was made up of girls that normally do not get to play.

Hayden Invitation Golf Tourney

   The RHS girls golf team played in the Hayden Invitational at the Shawnee Country Club on Sept. 15.   Rossville had a handicap in that they only played four girls and most of the other teams had six girls and the four best scores made up the team score.

Logan McCrory Meets Royals

    Logan McCrory from Rossville got to meet several KC Royals baseball players and came home with some autographed souvenirs recently.

The Girls Cross Country team WON the Onaga meet!
Individual medalists: Iana Catana 25th, Laura Gillum 21st, and Taylor Bittner 5th.


Boys medalist was Kyle Parr 27th.

Garrett Jones Is New Music Director

    Mr. Garrett Jones is the new music director this year for RHS.  New is the key word as he just graduated from K. U. in Music Education  and this is his first teaching assignment.  He is the 5-12 Band Director and 7-12 Choir Director, as well as Assistant High School Track Coach.  
    The junior high band is at 35 students, the largest it has been in years,  and the junior high choir has 31 members, nearly double the normal enrollment.

Homecoming Week

  • Homecoming Week is the week of September 21-25. The theme is “There is No Place Like Homecoming.” Activities on homecoming Friday include a Lip Dub, picture of all the students in DAWG formation on the football field, Powder Puff football game, pep rally and parade. The Dawgs play Riley County that night and the crowning will take place prior to the start of the game.

RHS Band At KSU Band Day

    The Rossville Senior High  Band will be headed to K-State for the annual "Band Day" event this coming Sat., Sept. 19.     The parade has been cancelled due to construction, but the RSHS band  will still be on the football field playing with all of the other area bands at halftime.
    The game against La. Tech.  is scheduled for a 3 PM start.
