Warning For Youngsters

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A young girl in St. Marys says a suspicious stranger approached her on the street Tuesday.
St. Marys Police Chief Josh WInkleman says the girl told adults she was walking to a friends house just after 2 pm Tuesday when a man in a light-brown SUV with tinted windows started following her in the 700 block of Alma. She says the man then pulled up in front of her and rolled down the window.
The girl screamed and the man drove off. Winkleman says police responded and searched the area but were unable to find the suspect vehicle.
Police remind you to always be alert and contact police if you see anything suspicious. Winkleman says it's an especially pertinent reminder with so many children outside during this spring break week and as the weather gets warmer.
