Rattlers Lose in 12th Inning
A single to
right field by Kasey Clark in the bottom of the 12th inning scored Franke Valle
from third base and lifted the Junction City Brigade to an 11-10 victory in 12
innings over the Rossville Rattlers Friday night at Rathert Field.
The win came in the first game of their
best two-out-of-three semifinal round playoff series in the Mid Plains League
Cowdin Cup playoffs. Game two is at 7 p.m. Sunday in Rossville. It was originally scheduled for Sat. night.
Junction City led in the contest Friday
night 6-2 and 9-6 but Rossville took advantage of three consecutive walks and
the Brigade’s inability to complete a rundown play when Danny Mitchell Jr. was
caught between first and second base in the eighth inning. Mitchell eventually
made it safely back to first base, but in the meantime the Rattlers had scored
the tying run from third to make it 9-9. When neither team scored in the ninth
the game went into extra innings.
