RHS Wins Oskaloosa Invitational
The Dawgs won the Oskaloosa Invitational boys basketball tournament with an impressive 63-44 victory over Jefferson North in the championship game.

RHS Boys Win Semi-Final
The RHS Boys Basketball team won their semi-final game of the Oskaloosa Invitational on Friday night by defeating Cornerstone 64-29. They will now play in the championship game on Sat against Jefferson North who defeated Perry-Lecompton 66-50 in the other semi-final.
In the Consolation bracket, Oskaloosa defeated Valley Falls 55-54 and Pleasant Ridge defeated Atchison County 48-45.

Amanda Hill Honored
Amanda Hill, leading scorer for the RHS girls basketball team was one of ten athletes nominated for the Capital-Journal Area Athlete of the Week. Hill averaged 23 points in a
pair of wins, going for 31 in a 50-40 win over Rock Creek. She is averaging 20.8/game for the season thus far. The big scoring week
pushed the Bulldawg senior over the 1,000-point mark for her career.

This week the RHS wrestling team moved up one place to ninth.
Bryce Gfeller is ranked number two in the 138 lb class behind Hunter Ostertag of AAAHS. Isaiah Luellen maintains his number one rank in the 160 lb class. For details, click on the below list.
Robert Crawshaw Passes Away
Robert Bob E. Crawshaw, 74, Silver Lake, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017.
He was born March 20, 1942, in Shawnee County, Kansas, the son of Elmer and Agnes (Fleming) Crawshaw. He graduated from Silver Lake High School and served in the Kansas National Guard. Robert was a farmer and rancher.
Survivors include two sons: Jim Crawshaw and Chris Crawshaw, both of Topeka; two sisters: Marjorie (John) Kratina, Rossville and Barbara (David) Hitchcock, Silver Lake; two grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services with military honors will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2017 at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Grove, KS (North of Silver Lake). Memorial contributions may be made to Grove 4-H, 1740 SW Western Ave, Topeka, KS 66604 or Silver Lake USD 372 Public School Foundation, P.O. Box 351, Silver Lake, KS 66539. Loreine Kincaid Passes Away
Loreine A. Kincaid, 90, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the St. Marys Manor.
She was born September 13, 1926 at Topeka, the daughter of Albert Benedict and Amelia Clara Umscheid Weltsch. Loreine attended State Street Grade School, Holliday Jr. High School and graduated from Capitol Catholic High School in 1944.
Loreine was employed at Topeka Steam Boiler Works for eight years. She and her husband Colton owned and operated Kincaid Truck Lines for 34 years. Mrs. Kincaid also worked at the Rezac Sale Barn restaurant and was the manager of the St. Mary Senior Apartments from 1992 until she retired in 2010.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Hoy Heim No. 178 American Legion Auxiliary and the St. Marys Senior Center.
She was married to Colton F. Kincaid Jr. at the Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka on November 8, 1947. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1980. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jayme Nicole Kincaid on March 11, 1985, a brother Loren O. Weltsch and a sister, Dorothy Benaka.
Survivors include four sons, Richard D. (Lynn) Kincaid, Wamego, Ronald L. (Carol) Kincaid, Olsburg, Randy C. (Jane) Kincaid, St. Marys and Russell S. (Jacqueline) Kincaid, Silver Lake; five grandchildren, and 11 great- grandchildren,
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery, St. Marys. Mrs. Kincaid will lie in state after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Piper Funeral Home where there will be a rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Research or the University of Kansas Medical Center and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
