Mission Valley Game Progress

Rossville scored with 7 seconds left in the first qtr. to take a 6-0 lead on a run by Trevor Johnson.

MV struck back quickly  with 10:26 left in the half with a 64 yard TD pass to tie the game. The teams traded short drives in a defensive struggle until MV scored on a pass play with 36 seconds remaining to go up 13-6.  On the previous play,  Christian Madill sacked the MV quarterback which seemed if might slow their drive as they faced a 2 and 17.  But,  the successful pass nullified the fine defensive play

The Dawgs scored with 3:22 left in the third to tie the game at 13 all.

Dawgs scored on a long pass of about 50 yards early in the fourth qtr to go up 20-13.  In the ensuing MV drive,  the Dawgs intercepted.  However their drive ended about the 20 coming up about one inch short in a measurement of 4th down.  The MV drive was once again stopped by an interception whcih was taken back to about the MV 30.  A few plays later the Dawgs scored to go up 27-13 with 3:27 left in the 4th.  However,  on the next drive, the Vikings completed a long pass to the 10 yard line and two plays later scored.  A fake extra point kick added two points to get within 6.   But the Dawgs fumbled the ball on a bad snap and MV had the ball with two minutes left.  MV scored as time ran out,  but the Dawgs blocked the extra point kick.  Tied at 27 at the end of regulation time.

On to OT.

The Dawgs were on offense first.  They were not able to get the ball into the end zone so attempted a field goal which missed.  MV was able to complete a pass into the end zone to win 66-27.

Rossville is now 0-1 in district play.  They must win at least 2 of the next 3 games to get continue in the playoffs.
