Man Captured On I-70
From the Capital Journal:
The
Kansas Highway Patrol arrested a man late Monday afternoon after he ran from a
traffic stop along Interstate 70 west of Topeka.
Authorities
at the scene said the incident began around 11:15 a.m., when a Kansas Highway
Patrol trooper stopped a vehicle that was traveling east on I-70 about a mile
west of S.W. Carlson Road in eastern Wabaunsee County.
The man
got out of the stopped vehicle and ran to the south, going over a fence and
into pastureland that was marked with ravines, bluffs and tree lines.
Additional
law enforcement officers, including Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and Shawnee
County sheriff’s deputies, responded to assist with the search. A Kansas
Highway Patrol K-9 unit also responded to the scene.
Officers
set up a perimeter around the area where authorities thought the man ran. He
was located about 30 minutes after he fled from the vehicle stop. No injuries
were reported.
