Golder & Kippes Sign To Play at Ft. Scptt
Rossville High Has 2 Student Athletes

Rossville High School athletic department is proud to announce that in the past
3 weeks, two of its student athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to
move on and play their respective sports at the college level. Dallis Golder and Kelcie Kippes have signed
with Ft Scott Community College and Butler County Community college. As an All
Mid East League performer, Dallis will be joining a very successful Greyhound
Volleyball program. The Hounds are
continuously in the top half of the Jayhawk JuCo conference. Kelicie who has been an All MEL and All State
performer for the Lady Dawg Softball team, will be joining the Grizzly softball
team when she completes her high school career. The Grizzlies have been consistently a top 5 team in the nation the past few
years, claiming National titles in 2016 & 17 as well as a 3rd
place finish last season nationally.
Rossville High would like to send congratulations and wish both young
ladies best of luck.

Sage (Smith) (81) Nelson Passes Away
Sage Raye Nelson 55, Topeka, passed away early Monday, December 17, 2018 at a Topeka Hospital.
She was born Yvette Christina Smith on July 11, 1963 at Albuquerque, NM, the daughter of Kenneth Ray and Arletta E. Sage Smith. Sage grew up in the Rossville community and attended Rossville Schools.
She had lived in the Topeka and Rossville area most of her life. Sage was an over the road truck driver. She was a member of TAC Asatru Community and was very involved in the organization serving as Vice President. She was a registered Gydja (spiritual leader).
Sage was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing, crocheting, soap making and adored her granddaughter Lilly.
She was married to Jim Matyak, they were divorced. He preceded her in death along with her father Kenneth Ray Smith and a son Dalton McIntyre Nichols.
Survivors include her mother, Arletta E. Nichols, Minneapolis, Kansas; her son, Jeramy Matyak, Lyndon; two daughters, Karey Nichols and Katey Nichols both of Topeka; two sisters, Yvonne Church, Minneapolis, and Yolande Nichols, Topeka; her granddaughter Lillian Nichols.
A Celebration of Life will be from 11:00 until 3:00 P.M. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Crestview Shelter House, 4901 Shunga Dr., Topeka. John Jacobson Passes Away
Delia: John B. "Jake" Jacobsen, 89, rural Delia passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 at his home.
He was born July 3, 1929 the oldest son of Clyde F. and Marguerite Crouse Jacobsen at Fairmont, NE. He grew up in the Fairmont community and lived in Nebraska until moving to Kansas over 60 years ago.
He and his wife Pearl along with their family owned and operated Jacobsen Rodeo Company many years. They provided rodeo livestock in Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri. Jake was an order buyer. He had worked in the ring at livestock barns in St. Marys, Emmett, Marysville, Frankfort, Onaga and at both barns in Holton. He raised horses and cattle. Jake gathered cattle by horseback many years. He was a member of the Delia Presbyterian Church, and was a past member of the Fairmont Methodist Church. Jake was a member of the Eagles Lodge, I.O.O.F., SCA, URA and IRA; the Kansas Livestock Association and the Jackson County Livestock Association. A grandson gave him the nickname of Albert which stuck with him as many family members called him that. Jake loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Francis, Bill, Floyd (Karen), and Glen. He was also preceded in death by Mark Morgan whom he considered a son.
On March 1, 1947 he was united in marriage to Pearl McDonald at Geneva, NE, she survives of the home.
Other survivors include his son, Dale (Carolyn) Jacobsen, Circleville; his daughter, Bonita "Sis" (Wilbur Jr.) Stum, Topeka; four grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Holton Livestock Exchange Sale Barn, Holton, KS. Inurnment will be at a later date in Nebraska.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, December 21, 2018 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cowboy Crisis Fund or the Pottawatomie Tribe Rescue Squad and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St. Marys, Kansas 66536. Terry (Albright) McDaniel Passes Away
Terry Kay Albright McDaniel, age 60, of Topeka passed away Friday morning, December 14, 2018 at Midland Hospice Care.
Terry was born October 31, 1958 in Topeka the daughter of Charles Albright and Rebecca Fritz. She received a Bachelors degree from Barton County. She married Jerry McDaniel October 18, 1985 in Rossville. She worked and was active at the Potawatomi Prairie Band Reservation for many years.
She is survived by her husband of over 33 years, Jerry of Topeka; her father, Charles Albright of Topeka; two sons, Jeremy (Christina) McDaniel of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Robert (Melissa) McDaniel of Topeka; two daughters, Andrea (Jermaine McDonald) Dickson of Topeka and Jami (Moses Jr.) Greasham of Wichita; two brothers, Jerry Albright of Overland Park, KS and Dean Jarmel of San Francisco, CA; a sister, Jennifer Jarmel-Shedd of San Francisco, CA and six grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Private Inurnment will be at the Walnut Hill Cemetery. davidsonfuneral.com

Girls Basketball Team Wins At Atchison
The Rossville girls team added another win at Atchison on Friday night. They led 11-6 after th first 8 minutes, and 20-14 at the half. They continued to keep a nice lead throughout the second half. They were ahead 38-23 after three quarters and up 49-36 at the final buzzer.
