Kalei Nagos Hale Is WIBW Good Kid
ROSSVILLE (WIBW) -- Kalei Nagos Hale is an 8th grader at Rossville Junior High. Her favorite subjects in school are Phys Ed and English. She is a multi-sport athlete who especially loves her Topeka Queens softball and Topeka Saints volleyball sisters!
Nagos, as she's known, has been a patient in past years at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City since she was 6 months old and is celebrating her 14th birthday! Here's how she's not collecting gifts for herself, but for other kids being treated at Children's Mercy.
She has a condition called Coloboma of the Optic Nerve and it has caused her to have zero vision in her right eye. She definitely doesn't let it hold her back. She is so determined to be just as good at anything, as kids with vision in both eyes are.
A couple of years ago, she started celebrating her birthday with a toy drive. 2020 marks her third year of asking for toy donations instead of gifts or a party for herself. She will deliver all the donations to Children's Mercy Hospital, hoping to make other kids smile while at the hospital. She has gone through 5 eye surgeries and countless appointments and check-ups from other peoples kind donations, so this is her small way of giving back.
Her family and friends are so very proud of kind heart! And so are we.
