All State Band Results

We are very proud to announce that Rossville Clarinetists Taylor Morelli and Meagan Huston have been selected to the 2019-2020 KMEA 1-4A All-State Band, 4th and 18th chair respectively. Taylor becomes the second THREE-YEAR All-State Member in Rossville History!
They will rehearse in Wichita, February 27th-29th, with a performance on Saturday, February 29th at 3:00 PM in Century II.

Lady Dawgs Beat Pleasant Ridge

   The Rossville girls picked up their second consecutive win with a fifth place finish in the Jefferson North Invitational tournament with an impressive 42-28  win on Feb. 1.

Lady Dawgs Beat Cornerstone

TheRossville girls won their semi-final game in the consolation bracket of the Jefferson North Invitational tournament of Jan 31.  The game was close until the Lady Dawgs were able to pull away in the fourth quarter for a 46-37 win.   They play for 5th place on Sat., Feb. 1.

Rossville Boys Fifth At Valley Falls Tourney

After losing the first game of the Valley Falls tournament,  the Dawgs came back to win
their semi-final in the consolation bracket against Atchison County and then defeat Cornerstone 64-46 on Jan. 29 to capture 5th place.

Bo Reeves was selected to the All Tournament Team.

Zach Archer has continued with his winning ways and has maintained his number one ranking the whole season in the 113 lb class.  Lane Hurla has continued his number four ranking at 138 lbs.   With some impressive victories over ranked opponents at last week's big Holton tourney, Kody Davoren has moved up to second place in the 220 lb rankings.

Jan (Strimple) Dannefer Passes Away


     Rossville-Jan Marie “Jamboree” Dannefer, 67, passed away, Monday, January 27, 2020, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
     She was born on August 30, 1952, at Topeka, the daughter of Orville and Jacqueline Lloyd Strimple.  Jan grew up in the Rossville community and graduated from Rossville High School in 1970.  She attended Kaw Valley Technical School in Topeka, where she studied Medical Transcription.
     Jan worked in the medical transcription pool at Stormont Vail Hospital.  After the birth of her children, she became a stay at home mom and was a daycare provider.  She was a member of the Rossville Christian Church and the Rossville Community Library Book Club..
     Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Jackie, three nephews, Baby Boy Nadeau, Jordan Nadeau, and Michael Dannefer. 
    Daryl Dannefer and Jan Strimple were united in marriage on a cold and windy morning on November 17, 1973, at the Dannefer Farm.  He survives of the home.
     Other family members that are left to cherish her memory are her son, Eric (Mel) Dannefer, Abilene; her daughter, Amanda (Krishna) Khemraj, Olathe; sister, Gay (David) Nadeau, Rossville; grandchildren, Maezee and Grandin Khemraj, Naomi, Claira, and Hope Dannefer.
     Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the Rossville Christian Church.  Interment will be in the Rossville Cemetery.  Jan will lie in state, and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday, January 31, 2020, at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville Christian Church and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.  To read a full obituary or leave online condolences, please go to www.piperfuneralhome.com.

The Rossville girls will be playing in the Jefferson North Invitational basketball tournament this week with the first round on the tournament on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Games Tuesday — at High school:
 Atchison County vs. Cornerstone, 6 p.m. 
Jefferson North vs. Rossville, 7:30 p.m. 
At Middle school: 
Oskaloosa vs. Pleasant Ridge, 6 p.m. 
Perry-Lecompton vs. Valley Falls, 7:30 p.m. 

Games Friday — High school: 
Perry-Valley Falls winner vs. Oskaloosa-Pleasant Ridge winner, 6 p.m. 
Jefferson North-Rossville winner vs. Atchison County-Cornerstone winner, 7:30 p.m.; 
Middle school: Consolation semifinals, 6 & 7:30 p.m. 

Games Saturday — High school:
