Horton Cross Country Meet

In Junior High action, Gabe Fund and Makenna Hensley both ran strong, moving up through the competition throughout the entire race. Each of them snagged a personal best for the season and look to continue to improve in their final two races of the year - Osage City and League at Wabaunsee.

The Varsity Girls finished 3rd as a team in a tight battle against future 3A Regional competitors Sabetha and Hiawatha. Julia Streit led from the front for much of the race, but was caught in the final sprint finish by Hiawatha's Kate Madsen to finish 2nd overall in 20:32. Amelia Foster was 8th, 21:54. St. Marys and Rossville Split in VB

The Lady Dawgs split their volleyball match with St. Marys on Sept 29.  RHS won 25-21, 25-14 but St. Marys won the other 21-25, 25-22, 25-14.  Rossville is 14-4 now for the season.

Royal Valley Cross Country Inv.

The Rossville Dawgs Cross Country team competed at Hoyt City Park for the Royal Valley Cross Country Invitational on Thursday, September 24th. Covid-19 has certainly made its impact within Kansas cross country, notably with the University of Kansas' cancelling of their high-profile Rim Rock Cross Country Invitational that was slated for Saturday, September 26th. With that cancellation, teams were forced to search for other meets to attend, and Royal Valley's attendance increased as a result. Due to the increased numbers, they decided to spread out the competition by starting each age group separate 30 minutes  apart from 3:00 to 6:30

With temperatures in the mid to upper 80's, this made for a long, hot afternoon of racing. In addition to the heat, the high school 5k course ended up being 350 meters too long, which skewed results and impacted team rankings for week 4. The Dawgs prevailed and competed strongly nonetheless.

7th Grade Girls:  Makenna Hensley -  (15th)
7th Grade Boys Gabe Fund - (17th)
Varsity Girls - 3rd place out of eight teams behind Santa Fe Trail and Wamego: Julia Streit (1st). Amelia Foster (4th). Audrie Davis (15th). Cassie Fund (27th). Reagan Wonnell (37th). Keera Lacock (42nd).
Varsity Boys - Sam Twombly (19th). Wade Twombly (50th). Hayden Sanders (55th). Bronc Reser (64th).
