Baseball Team Splits W/Silver Lake

Rossville and Silver Lake played a double header on April 11.  The Dawgs lost the first 11-5 but won the second game 14-11.   The Dawgs are 3-3 in the MEL. 

Silver Lake Girls Win Two

The RHS softball team lost two games to the Silver Lake girls, each loss by ONE point.   Silve Lake had wins of 8-7 and 4-3.   Rossville is not 4-2 in the MEL.

Softball Team Gets Two Wins

     The Lady Dawgs showed that they will be a contender for the MEL crown by picking up two more wins at Wabaunsee on April 9.  They won by scores of  6-3  and 17-8 and their record now stands at 7-1 overall and 4-9 in MEL play.

Baseball Team Get Two Wins

 The Dawgs picked up two convincing wins against Wabaunsee on Friday, April 9 by scores of 13-3 and 10-0.    The Dawgs are 2-2 in MEL play.

Marsha (Scott) (64) Dedonder Passes Away

      Marsha D. DeDonder, 74, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021, at her home in St. Marys.

     She was born in Corning, the daughter of Gilbert J. and Rosalia E. Broxterman Scott on November 12, 1946.  Marsha graduated from Rossville High School.

     Marsha worked in health care for many years.  She later became a para-professional at St. Marys Grade School, where she retired after many years of service.  She chose this profession to watch her grandchildren as they passed through each class at SMGS.  Marsha was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

     Marsha D. Scott and Francis M. “Frank” DeDonder were united in marriage on November 27, 1965, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Topeka.  He preceded her in death on August 25, 2016.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Randy Scott, and sister, Michelle Cowge

     Survivors include her children, Jim DeDonder, St. Marys, Tammy (Tim) Fulmer, Flagler, CO., Lori (Tom) Hutley and Sarah (Marc) Carlson, all of St. Marys; three brothers, Keith (Cindi) Scott, Phoenix, AZ; Glen (Holly) Scott, Tampa, FL; and Ralph (Lauri) Scott, Shawnee; her sister, Sheryl (Dick) Bahr, Rossville; a sister-in-law, Pam Scott, Phoenix. AZ; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren with one on the way.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Marsha will lie in state and, the family will receive friends at the Church from 5:00 P.M until the Rosary at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.  Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to, Food For The Poor, Sisters of St. Joseph, or the Immaculate Conception Adoration Chapel Building Fund and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.

Phillip Harrison Dies In Auto Accident

 (KSNT) – One person has died after a Wednesday morning crash that shut down U.S. Highway 24 in Pottawatomie County, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

Phillip Theodore Harrison, 19, of St. Marys, died in the crash, according to Kansas Highway Patrol Harrison was driving a Toyota Camry west on Highway 24 when his tires slipped off the roadway on the right edge.

The patrol said Harrison tried to overcorrect and went into the eastbound lanes, where a Dodge Ram hit his car. The Ram driver had minor injuries after the wreck.

Emergency crews shut down Highway 24 between Belvue and Wamego while they worked at the scene. They took Harrison to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
