State Football Playoffs Bracket for 2021

2A Districts 1-4 Playoffs

Elizabeth Schaefer Makes National Concert Band

Congratulations to Elizabeth Schaefer, a Senior at Rossville Jr/Sr High School, as she has been selected as a member of the 2021 NAFME ALL-NATIONAL Concert Band for flute. Only 9 high school flute students are selected to the All-National Band. This places Elizabeth as one of the top 9 high school flute players in the country.  She is also the first student from Rossville to ever be selected for this ensemble.

The process to get to Nationals started last May, 2020. She auditioned in November, 2020, and was selected as the 1st Chair Flute for the KMEA (Kansas Music Educators Association) Northeast District Honor Band.

With her selection to District, that qualified her to audition for All-State where she was selected 1st Chair flute in January 2021.
The All-State selection qualified her to audition for All-Nationals. She started preparing the audition music in June and submitted the audition in September.

Because of the continuing pandemic, the honor band to be held in San Diego has been canceled and will be held virtually this year, with rehearsals, sectionals, and other sessions taking place over zoom in January.
