Rossville High junior, Aiden Baumchen received a $300 award from Jackson Co. Farm Bureau Assoc. for his winning essay on American agriculture. His entry “Agriculture: Growing A Climate For Tomorrow,” was the winner in the county’s National Ag Day contest.

Cherie Gamino Passes Away
Cheri L. Gamino, 74, St. Marys, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.
She was born November 23, 1946, in Braymer, MO. the daughter of Lee and Myrtle Beam Phillips.
Cheri had lived in the Emmett and St. Marys communities for many years. She worked at Ray's Apple Market, the Wamego City Hospital, Knoll's Travel Agency, St. Marys State Bank and in the offices of the Kansas City Chiefs. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Rossville defeaated Santa Fe Trail in baseball on Feb. 22 by scores of 11-6 and 4-2. The Dawgs are 11-1 overall.

Kinsey Perine, a sophomore at Rossville High, was selected as the Dan Key Farmers Insurance Agency Female Athlete of the Week for Shawnee Countyafter hitting three home runs against Silver Lake.

Trent Gentry To Attend Manhattan Area Tech
RHS senior Trent Gentry has signed a Letter Of Internt to attend Manhattan Area Tech in their HVAC program this Fall. He will graduate May 12 from the Washburn Tech electrical technology program with honors and RHS May 15.

Perine Hits 3 HRs at Silver Lake
Kinsey Perine, a sophomore at RHS, hit three home runs in their 10-1, 9-8 doubleheader softball sweep over rival Silver Lake. Perine accounted for three of the Bulldawgs' six total homers on the day and also added a double for Rossville. The Bulldawgs finished the week with a sweep over St. Marys, improving to 12-0 on the season.

Undefeated Rossville Leads KS In Home Runs
From Sports In Kansas:
Rossville currently leads Kansas in homers with twelve, per MaxPreps and other publicly available softball statistics. Ottawa and Wichita Heights have hit 11, per MaxPreps.
Kinsey Perine has delivered a .529 average with seven homers. Vanesa Quinones has a .552 mark with two homers. Kinley Porter has two homers and a .433 average. She had a walk-off to beat Silver Lake. Brinley Dyche, an under-the-radar player, has one strikeout with a .343 mark.
Caylee Douglas (.300 average, seven steals) and Kinsey Perine (12 steals) have ran well. Emma Mitchell has a .552 average and .759 slugging percentage. Ryan Leathers (.333) and sophomore Kiera Barber (.292 mark) have been solid players.
The school mark for single season homers is 10, set by Taylor Kirk in 2014 and Sara Shinn in ’17.
