Troy Raine (81) Passes Away (Full Obituary)

Troy Lee Raine, a cherished member of our community and a beloved father and grandfather, passed away on November 7, 2024, at Midland Hospice in Topeka, Kansas. Born on July 16, 1963, in Topeka, Troy enjoyed a life filled with love, family, and deep friendships. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1981 and furthered his education at Highland Community College, setting the foundation for a dedicated career as a proud member of the Laborers' Local 1290 Union. Troy was a member of the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church.

Troy fiercely loved his family and friends, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and joy. He is survived by his loving mother, Linda Raine; his two daughters, Tasha Raine and her husband James Weir, and Tamara Raine and her partner Josh Hartman; his life partner, Pam Currie; as well as his step-children, Shelby Currie and Tristen Currie, along with her partner Zachary Vick, and Dylan Currie and his partner Patricia Zirkle. Troy was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Corwin and Talan Weir, Preston, Gavin, and Liam Hartman, who brought immense happiness to his life.

Troy will be remembered not only for his devoted role as a father and grandfather but also for his spirited hobbies and passions. He found great joy in riding motorcycles, basking in the thrill of the open road, and had a fierce allegiance to KU basketball, sharing those thrilling moments with anyone who would watch alongside him. His heartwarming bond with his loyal dog, Odie, brought companionship and comfort during times of reflection.

Having battled cancer for a decade, Troy displayed an admirable spirit of resilience and strength. His determination was evident when, in January, he fulfilled a cherished dream to attend a KU basketball game in Lawrence, thanks to the kindness of a thoughtful nurse at the Cancer Center. This experience stood testament to his enduring zest for life, even amidst adversity.

He joins the embrace of his late grandparents, Joseph and Ruth Schlotz Raine, Dorothy Raine, Loren and Lucille Uhlrig Ungeheuer, his brother Todd Raine and his father William "Bill" Raine. Troy’s legacy is marked by the deep connections he cultivated and the love he spread throughout his life.

Troy’s visitation will take place on November 12, 2024, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St. in St. Marys. A graveside service will follow on November 13, 2024, at Maple Hill Cemetery at 11 AM, where he will be laid to rest. Following this, a second visitation will be held at Maple Hill Community Congregational Church at 12 PM, which will allow family and friends to gather in remembrance of a truly remarkable man.

As we reflect on the life of Troy Lee Raine, let us celebrate his unwavering spirit, his dedication to family, his passions, and the indelible mark he has left on all of us. His memory will forever shine brightly in our hearts.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Midland Care or to Mission Valley Trap Team and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home.
