First quarter:
Humboldt received the oening kick-off but fumbled during their first two drives. With the temperature around 20 degrees, handling the ball was problematic. The Dawgs scored a TD with 3:49 remaining in the first. In their second drive, Rossville scored a TD that was called back with a penalty and the Dawgs had to kick a field goal right at the end of the quarter to lead 10-0.
Second quarter:
Rossville's defense was stout against the run stuffing the Humboldt ball carriers for loss or short gain nearly run attempt. But, they were able to complete several long passes to keep drives alive and finally scored a TD and 2 pt conversion with 25 seconds left in the half. Rossville up 10-8 at the half and looking forward to receiving the KO after half-time.
Third quarter:
The Dawgs scored on the second play after they received the kick off taking only 31 seconds off the clock. Dags up 16-8. Humboldt's offense finally started moving the ball on the ground as well as the air and scored and added the 2 point conversion to tie the game, and then they added another TD to go up 24-16. The Dawgs added a TD but failed on 2 pt. conversion to end the quarter down 24-22. A wild quarter with 4 of the game's six TDs scored in that quarter.
Fourth quarter:
The two teams dueled to a standstill during the fourth quarter with neither team scoring. So the final score remained 24-22 in favor of the Humboldt Cubs,
