Terry (Albright) McDaniel Passes Away

    Terry Kay Albright McDaniel, age 60, of Topeka passed away Friday morning, December 14, 2018 at Midland Hospice Care. 
    Terry was born October 31, 1958 in Topeka the daughter of Charles Albright and Rebecca Fritz. She received a Bachelors degree from Barton County. She married Jerry McDaniel October 18, 1985 in Rossville. She worked and was active at the Potawatomi Prairie Band Reservation for many years. 
    She is survived by her husband of over 33 years, Jerry of Topeka; her father, Charles Albright of Topeka; two sons, Jeremy (Christina) McDaniel of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Robert (Melissa) McDaniel of Topeka; two daughters, Andrea (Jermaine McDonald) Dickson of Topeka and Jami (Moses Jr.) Greasham of Wichita; two brothers, Jerry Albright of Overland Park, KS and Dean Jarmel of San Francisco, CA; a sister, Jennifer Jarmel-Shedd of San Francisco, CA and six grandchildren. 
    Memorial services will be Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Private Inurnment will be at the Walnut Hill Cemetery. davidsonfuneral.com

Girls Basketball Team Wins At Atchison

    The Rossville girls team added another win at Atchison on Friday night.  They led 11-6 after th first 8 minutes, and 20-14 at the half.   They continued to keep a nice lead throughout the second half.   They were ahead 38-23 after three quarters and up 49-36 at the final buzzer.

RHS Boys Lose At Atchison

    The Rossville boys basketball team lost at Atchison 70-45.    The Dawgs were down 20-4 at the end of the first quarter and behind 36-21 at the half.  At the end of 3 periods,  they were behind 50-35
and trailed 70-45 at the games end.

Drug Arrest In Rossville

December 8th, 2018 near the Rossville Grade School just before midnight.

The on-duty Rossville Officer witnessed a passenger car with an expired out of state tag. The vehicle was stopped and alcohol was visible in plain sight. Further investigation revealed the driver was a registered offender for drug trafficking, on probation, and had no driver’s license. The on-duty Silver Lake Police Officer responded to assist. Shortly thereafter a loaded handgun, extra ammunition, electronic drug scales, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia for narcotics distribution was discovered. The male driver was arrested on multiple traffic charges as well as felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The female passenger was arrested for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a school, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were transported to the Shawnee County Jail and face charges in Shawnee County District Court. Over 30 grams of methamphetamine was taken off the street as well as weapons and ammunition. The vehicle was seized and towed away by a wrecker service. The Rossville Police Department wishes to thank the Silver Lake Police Department for their invaluable assistance in keeping both our communities safe.

Rossville Boys Lose To Chapman

    The Champan boys basketball team beat the Bulldawgs 64-26 in the Sat. evening game of the Irish Classic basketball tournament.

Rossville Girls Lose To Chapman

    The Rossville girls were ahead 14-13 at the half in their game against Chapman this afternoon.
    After 3 quarters,  they were dowm by two at 28-26.  With 3.8 seconds, Rossville had a 2 point lead with Chapman having to inbound the ball a full court away from the basket.  However,  the Rossville girls allowed Chapman to heave the ball over half the court before time started and they made a shot right at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.
    During the OT, Chapman was able to outscore Rossville 5-3 to win by two at 43-41 during a hard fought game.
    The Lady Dawgs were 1-2 in this tournament.

    The Rossville girls lost  against Sacred Heart on Friday night in the Irish Classic basketball tournament  at Chapman.    They will play Chapman on Sat. night.
