Wehners Show Hog Operation

    Larry and Joe Wehner have a show hog farm near Rossville where they raise Spots,   taking over from grandfather Clyde Miller.   Throughout the years, Wehner Farms has collected numerous championships at county fairs and shown their hogs at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson  and  also national events.

Wabaunsee Invitational Track Meet

    The Rossville boys track team came in 6th of 10 teams at the Wabaunsee Invitational.  The lone bulldog winning an event was Parr with a triple jump of 42-2 1/2.
     The Rossville girls track team was 7th of 9 teams.  Their only win was the 4 x 100 relay which they won with a time of 54.16.

Roberta (Immenschuh) (73) LeMay Passes Away

    Because there was no reference to Rossville in the obituary, the death of Roberta Lemay in 2006 went unnoticed by me and others from Rossville.  Therefore,  I am now publishing her obituary.
    Roberta was born 9/8/1955 in Wamego to Robert and Ruth (Olson) Immenschuh.  She was raised in Rossville graduating from RHS in 1973. For the last 13 years of her life,  she worked at the Council Grove Post Office.
    She married Louis LeMay in St. Marys.  At the time of her death in 2006,  she was survived by her husband, two daughters, a sister Marcia and a brother Russell (81).
    Funeral services were at the St. Rose Catholic Church with interment in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Council Grove.

    Today,  Roberta's two daughters, Sheena and Brittani,  are running in a Race For Life at Washburn U. in Roberta's honor,  and have done so in 2011 and 2012 also.

    There will be a 5K and a 1 Mile race on April 27, 2013, at 7:30 AM at the Rossville Grade School.
    Registration must be done by April 19.

Rossville Area To Get Improved Radio Coverage

    The Shawnee Co. commissioners have approved two new radio towers to improve emergency communications in the NW and SE areas of the county where service is spotty.  One of the towers will be on property presently owned by William and Carolyn Badura north of Rossville.

Boys Golf Team Outlook

    The boys golf team has 21 on the roster this year.   The top returners from last year include Davis Warton, a junior who has been a two-time All Mid-East League player.  Others are Jordan Pickens, also a junior, senior Jason Logan, and sophomore Colby Hadsall.
