Buhler (11) Leads Washburn U. To Win.

    The No. 18 and undefeated Washburn Ichabods trailed for the first time this season but turned a half time 7-7 tie into a 28-19 win with a big second half rally over Central Oklahoma.
    Mitch Buhler finished with 349 yards passing going 17 of 29 with one interception and two touchdown passes.

Haley Kelley (13) Grand Champion at State Fair


    Haley Kelley, of Rossville, and Luke Garrison, of Auburn, received Grand Champion awards in their divisions in the Clothing Buymanship Fashion Revue at the 2013 Kansas State Fair earlier this month, according to a news release.
    They were judged on their modeling skills, the fit of the garment, knowledge of cost per wear and an interview.
    They were awarded $250 scholarships and silver engraved trophy plates.
    Haley is member of Rossville Rustlers 4-H Club and is a freshmen at Kansas State University.

Rossville Downs Winless Riley County

     On Friday night the Dawgs relied primarily on a rushing attack to take care of business against the Riley County eleven who have not picked up a win thus far this year.  Tucker Horak carried  21 times for 277 yards and 5 TDs.  He was 10 of 15 for 157 yards passing.

3A High School Classification

    The high school classifications for 2013-2014, and also  football for years through 2015 have been released.  All Mid-East League schools remain in 3A though Wabaunsee barely made the cut being the smallest of the 3A schools at 156.   The largest is Cheney at 238.   Following is the complete list.

Council Grove Invitational Golf

    The RHS girls golf team did well at the Council Grove Invitational on Sept. 26 at the Council Grove Country Club coming in third of nine teams.  Sidney Marney won individual honors  with a 9 hole score of 40.  Makayla Crow helped the team with a 51 (12th place finish) and Therese VanderPutten was right behind her with a 53 (14th place finish).

Zemek and Thomas Have a Girl

      Derek Zemek and Patricia Thomas of  Rossville are the proud parents of a new baby girl born Sept. 25 at St. Francis Hospital.

    Rossville automotive artist Garrett Larson’s unique brand of artwork will be featured at Swinnen and Associates, 921 S.W. Topeka Blvd., during the First Friday Artwalk on Oct. 4 beginning at 6 PM.
    Garrett, who graduated from Washburn University in 2009 with a degree in fine arts, has been painting cars, doing custom fabrication and creating artwork for the past 10 years. He runs a shop called Show Stoppers Studio, where he does commission work for customers and tricks out cars and motorcycles.

Hayden Invitational Golf

    The Rossville girls golf team finished 8 out of 10 teams at the Hayden Invitational held at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course.    Sidney Marney led the Dawgs with a 46, which tied for 11th best individually.

Onaga Invitational Cross Country.

    The Rossville Cross Country Team competed in the Onaga Invitational on Sept. 19.  The boys team was 9th out of 14 teams.  The top runner for Rossville was Clayton Rubio who came in 6th of over 100 runners.  Other top finishers were Dalton Kelley #32, Skyler Olson #44, Jake Gentry #54, Derek entry #61, and Fred Schuler #62.
    The girls team attained no points so were in a tie for places 6-12.   The top runner from Rossville out of the 61 competitors was Alyssa Thompson who came in 35th.

Message From RHS Booster Club

Dear Rossville Booster Club Member,

First of all THANK YOU for joining the Rossville Booster Club. Without you, support to our students wouldn't be possible! We are going to try and send out information to our members occasionally to keep you informed of various activities and events.

This week has had all students and teachers busy with homecoming activities!

Rossville Residents - don’t be alarmed if you see RHS students “snaking” through town under police escort Thursday night…. It’s the annual snake dance. Activities will start for the students at 6:30 at the football stadium and they will walk around town and end up back at the City Park for a bonfire. If you see them out – let them know you support the Red and Black!

The homecoming parade will be at 2:30 Friday afternoon. The homecoming candidates are -  Tori Dubois, Hailey Dick and Ashlynn Biehler and Marcus Catron, Tagen Lambotte and Devin Morris. The crowning will take place before the kick-off Friday night at 6:30. Your Rossville Dawgs will take on the Riley County Falcons. Activities during the football game –
· Booster Club will be selling fan apparel and other items – stop by and check us out. We have new apparel items including polo shirts and fleece pullovers
· The Rossville Wrestling Club will be selling fresh kettle corn
· Rossville Boy Scouts, Pack #99 will be selling popcorn
Booster Club Meetings -
Our meetings are open to anyone – so please feel free to join us on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:00. Our meetings are held at Rossville High School in the Library.  If you would like additional information or have suggestions for us, please let us know.

RHS Vs. Silver Lake Volleyball

   The RHS volleyball team played Silver Lake on Sept. 24.   In match one, Silver Lake defeated. Rossville 25-9, 25-8.  In match two,  Silver Lake defeated Rossville 25-13, 25-9 once again.

Cara (Channel) (84) Craig at Moundridge


Cara (Channel) Craig graduated from Tabor College in 1988.  She started  teaching at Moundridge right after graduation and has been there for 25 years.  She has taught 4th grade, 6th grade, 7/8 language arts, and is currently a special education teacher for K-12 students.
