Winfield G. Win Jansen, 80, Topeka, KS passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Rossville Health Care and Rehab Center.
Win was born December 26, 1934 in Roxbury, NY. He was one of eleven children raised in a foster home in Athens, NY. Win came to Topeka as a member of the U.S. Air Force serving as a Senior Medical Specialist. While stationed at Forbes Air Force Base, he met his angel Leatha C. Smith. They were married March 18, 1956. She preceeded him in death on August 16, 2010 after 54 years of marriage. Win and Leatha were involved in bowling at the state level and Win was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed coaching his son Steve in baseball for many years.
Upon leaving the Air Force, Win worked in management at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 27 years. Win was probably best known for his years selling automobiles at John Hoffer Chrysler Jeep, where he was awarded the Chrysler Gold Award. This was the first Gold Award ever given by Chrysler in the Topeka market.
Survivors include a son Steven Jansen (Lorna), Fort Mohave, AZ and a daughter Kim Livingston (Chuck) Topeka, KS, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be 12:30 P.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Mr. Jansen will lie in state from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Carey Funeral Home, Burlingame, KS, where the family will meet friends and relatives from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, spend the day with a child!
