Shirley (Parr) (38) Stadler Passes Away


    Shirley (Maxine) Parr Stadler  was born September 29, 1920 and died May 16, 2015,  one of five daughters born to Shirley O. and Edna Parr of Rossville, Kansas.
    Shirley graduated from Rossville High and married her high school sweetheart, Joseph V. Stadler. The newly married couple moved to Bremerton, Washington where they raised 3 children. After Joe retired they spent some years in Phoenix, Arizona and Joe died there in 1996. Shirley has since resided in Yakima, Washington until her passing .
    Shirley was a most gracious and loving woman and her family was everything to her. She was also a proud DAR member until she was into her 80s.
    She survived by her son Larry Joe Stadler and his wife, Donna, who live in Wickenberg, Arizona; and daughter Barbara Lorene Thomas who resides in Centralia, Washington. There is one surviving sister, Thelma Martin of Topeka,  Kansas and numerous other family members .
Her son Walter Lee Stadler died in Harrington, Maine in 2011 and a grandson, Scott Stadler died in Yakima,  Washington in 1982.
    Shirley and Joe’s 3 children blessed them with 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. She was their “GG” and she will be missed.
    A Private Memorial for the immediate family in Yakima has taken place.

Regional Softball Final On Thur.

    The Regional 3A championship game will be played at Silver Lake on May 21 between RHS and SLHS.

Lady Dawgs Win Semi-Final

    The Lady Dawgs advanced to the championship game of the 3A Regional with a 16-1 win over Marysville  in a four inning semi-final game.
    Taylor Kirk led the batters with four hits and four RBIs.  Taylor Brecheisen led in walks with three.
     Amanda Hill and Taylor Kirk each pitched two innings.  Taylor got the win,  bit Amanda led the stats with four strike-outs and six first pitch strikes .

Wellsville Wins 3A Baseball Regional

TOPEKA, Kan. -- (WIBW) The Wellsville Eagles are returning to the state tournament after defeating Rossville in the semifinals and Silver Lake in the finals Tuesday.
In the semifinal, Wellsville jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
In the fifth, the Eagles led 5-2. With two on, Rossville's Chris Roduner hit a three-run home run to right field to tie the game.
In the six inning, Wellsville's Anthony Dougan hit a three-run home run of his own off a shed in left-center field to take an 8-5 lead.
In the final game, Wellsville beat Silver Lake 5-3.
The Eagles are the defending 3A state champions.

Softball Regional Semi-Final Games

    The RHS solftball team plays Marysville today in the semi-final game of the regional at Riley County.   St. Marys and Silver Lake face each other in the other part of the bracket.

Lady Dawgs Dispose Of Hiawatha

    The Lady Dawgs won their first round game of the regional defeating Hiawatha 17-2 in four innings.
    Taylor Brecheisen led the batters with 3 hits and 6 RBIs.  Breanna Hill also had 3 hits.
    Amanda Hill pitched 4 innings of no-hit softball getting 11 strikeouts and 10 first pitch strikes in those 4 innings.

Kallie Fischeer Wins Award

    Baker University freshman Kallie Fischeer of Rossville was third in sports writing at the recent Kansas Collegiate Media Conference.

Four Golfers Make All League

    The Rossville boys golf team had four members who were selected as All Mide-East League.  They were Colby Hadsall, Paul Steinke, Gabe Marney, and Alex Bird.
    The team of those four won the Mid-East league tournament and will compete in the regional on May 18.

Dawgs At 3A Baseball Regional

    The 3A baseball regional will be played at Oskaloosa on May 18-19.  The #2 ranked Dawgs and #1 ranked Eagles both get byes the first day.  The Dawgs will face the winner of the Wellsville/Easton-Pleasant Ridge game on Tuesday at 4:00 PM.  Wellsville was ranked #10 last week.
    The championship game will be at 6:00 PM on Tuesday.  The likely opponent will be a rematch against Silver Lake.

Softball Team Faces Hiawatha At Regional

    The Lady Dawgs softball team will play their first Regional game on Monday,  May 18, at 3:00 PM, against Hiawatha at Riley County.  The Dawgs are seeded second and Hiawatha is seeded seventh. The winner will then play the winner of the Riley County-Marysville game on Tuesday at 4:45.  The championship game will be at 6:30 on Tuesday.
    Silver Lake has the #1 seed at this Regional.

Regional Golf May 18

    The Dawgs golf team will be competing in the 3A Regional at the Atchison Golf Club in Bellevue on Monday  May 18.
