Leadership Challenge Event

Pictured are this year’s Rossville High School LCE™ participants:
Morgan Foster, Fred Schuler, Emily Woodcock, Mitchell Porter, and Shanel Cooper.

The Leadership Challenge Event™ (LCE™) is hosted annually by the Washburn University Leadership Institute and was held on Mar. 31-Apr.1. It is a unique inter-scholastic and inter-collegiate leadership competition which enables high school and college students an opportunity to participate in an organized competition that simulates real-life experiences. Students address a variety of problems and situations where the outcome of the simulation is dependent on the leadership decisions made throughout the course of the competition. Student teams must fulfill the challenges and overcome the obstacles placed before them in a manner that demonstrates exemplary leadership knowledge and execution. This year’s scenario required students to prepare a proposal to acquire new business to the fictitious town of Metropolis.

Rossville High School Senior Isaac Luellen has signed a National Letter of Intent to wrestle at University of Nebraska-Kearney. The UNK Lopers are a NCAA DII power house wrestling program. In the past 10 years they have been National Champions 3 times and National Runners up 5 times. While at Rossville High, Isaac has been a 3 time state qualifier and 2 time state finalist. In his sophomore season, Isaac placed 2nd at 171 pound. Last year as a Junior, Isaac won the 182 pound weight class after battling back from a dislocated elbow he suffered in the state championship football game. He finished last season with a 20-0 record and currently has a 94-23 career record in high school. Isaac has put a lot of time in the wrestling room outside the high school season as well. The past two summers he has competed in the Asics Fargo Junior-Cadet National Championships, which is one of, if not the largest national tournaments in the summer. At Fargo, Isaac has earned “All American” honors by placing in the top 8, 2 times in freestyle and 2 times in Greco which is a pretty major feat. He was also an All American at the Cedar Falls National Folkstyle tournament last spring.

Last season, she was a 1st Team All MEL selection. Offensively Brittnee finished the last high school season with a .517 batting average and a .571 on base percentage and 7 doubles. She also scored 29 runs and had 28 RBI’s. Defensively she played a very solid and sure handed 2nd base for the Lady Dawgs. She has played summer ball for the Topeka Extreme and most recently with the Kansas Heatwave. Her gritty, hardworking attitude as well as her coachability will make her a great fit for the Lady Bods softball squad.
