Wamego Workshop On Hiring
KYEA is hosting a workshop called NOW HIRING.
This workshop will be held on Saturday, February 4 at Three Rivers, Inc. in Wamego. It will take place from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm, but the day will be completely interactive with speakers, hands on activities, group discussion, food, prizes, and more! Participants will learn how to be successful in employment. Throughout the day, participants will learn about the following topics: benefits of being employed, accommodations at the workplace, soft skills for employment, communication, disability disclosure, resume writing, job interviewing, and much more.
Must be between 15-25 with a disability of some sort to attend.
Applications are due by January 20. Contact Julie Biswell if you have questions.

Dist 321 Hiring Food Service Workers

Bradshaw On KFBCA Top 11 Team

After earning spots on The Capital-Journal’s All-State Top 11 team earlier this month, Rossville’s Jacob Bradshaw and Troy’s Cuttar Huss garnered the same honors from the Kansas Football Coaches Association, which announced its All-State teams on Monday.
Bradshaw, a senior quarterback, and Huss, a senior wide receiver-defensive back, were named to the KFBCA’s Top 11 as well as to their respective All-Class teams. Both small-school stars enjoyed huge statistical seasons in leading their respective teams to state titles this fall, Rossville in 3A and Troy in 2-1A.
The local duo are joined on the Top 11 by Derby’s Kenyon Tabor and Peerlus Walker, Miege’s Jafar Armstrong and Colin Grunhard, Hutchinson’s Josh Rivas, Great Bend’s Jacob Murray, Goddard’s Kody Gonzalez, Blue Valley’s Michael Maffry and Mill Valley’s Joel Donn. Pratt’s Jamie Cruce was named coach of the year after guiding the Greenbacks to the Class 4A Division II state title.
A handful of city players earned All-Class honors from the organization with 4A Division II runner-up Hayden getting a city-best four picks. Offensive lineman Keenan Flynn, running back Tomas Stringer, defensive lineman Jake Heit and kicked Pat Ellrich were named to the All-4A Division II team.
Seaman had a pair of All-Class 5A selections in linebacker Michael Latendresse and kicker Walker Bassett, while Shawnee Heights’ defensive end Wyatt Hubert also was an All-5A pick.
In addition to Bradshaw, Rossville linebacker Dawson Hammes and wide receiver Cole Schumacher were All-3A selections with Bulldawg coach Derick Hammes named coach of the year.
Troy’s Derek Jasper was selected as 2-1A coach of the year.
The KFBCA All-Class teams honor only seniors whose coaches are members of the organization.

RGS Students To Visit Victor School
Victor School celebrates 125 Years

in Topeka is celebrating its 125 years of existence.

Victor School Teachers and Students
The following images are compiled from school records by Douglas Martinek, RHS class of 1959, who is a trustee for the Ward Meade Historic Site. The teachers are listed as well as new students for that year.
Bennie Martinek, who taught at Victor from 1931-1938, was his father. Brothers Bennie Jr. and Dewight were also students at Victor.
The school had as many as 40 students but only had 4 in its last year 1965.

RHS Girls Sweep Irish Classic
The RHS girls basketball team swept the Irish Classic Tournament in Chapman with a 60-38 victory over Chapman on Dec. 10. The girls had victories of 65-23, 47-17, and 60-38 to really dominate the tournament. Amanda Hill led the scoring with games of 31, 20, and 28. The girls are now 4-0 for the season.
Amanda Hill was selected at the Irish Classic MVP and Amanda, Celia Hill and Lora Shinn were selected for the All-Tournament team.

Boys Lose BB Game To Chapman
The RHS boys basketball team lost their final game at the Irish Classic tournament in Chapman on Dec. 10 by a score of 52-45.
Cole Schumacher and Caiden Musick were both named to the All-Tournament team.
