Taylor Kirk (15) In NJCAA Div. II Finals


    Above is a picture of Taylor Kirk and her softball team from Johnson County Community College. They swept their District D regional in Topeka at Hummer Sport Complex going 5-0. Taylor and the team  will now be traveling  to Clinton, Mississippi, for the NJCAA Division II Nationals May 17th - 20th, 2017.  
   In the championship game Taylor batted .500 going 2-4 with a walk, two homeruns and 4 RBI's.

Ashley Rietcheck On Academic All-State List

    Ashley Rietcheck, daughter of Andy and Denise Rietcheck was named to the All-State Academic Team Honorable Mentions by the Capital-Journal.  She plans to attend Emporia State University

Stephen Snyder (99) Passes Away


Stephen Matthew Snyder, 36, Topeka, passed away May 1, 2017. 

Stephen was born April 21, 1981, in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Stephen and Kathy Clark Snyder. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1999. Stephen married Megan Millard in May 2006; they later divorced. Stephen had been with Cristina Decker for two and a half years. Their love of the Lord brought them closer together. He worked for Winston Brown Construction for five years as a lead carpenter. Stephen currently worked for Kansas Rebuilders LLC. He was a member of First Christian Church and former member of the Shriner’s.

Stephen loved and adored his son and was a proud father. He loved coaching his son in wrestling, football, baseball, and basketball. Stephen was a loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Stephen was a compassionate, loving, respectful individual, whose smile could light up a room. Among other things, he enjoyed smoking meat, spending time with family and friends, and yearly family vacations.

Stephen is survived by his son, Landon Snyder; father, Stephen Snyder; step-mother, Judy Snyder; siblings, Jessica Anderson (Joe), and Jason Snyder (Tonya); nieces and nephews, Kaiden Craig, Clayton Kennedy, Jaylon Anderson, Marlowe Snyder, and Ansel Snyder. He was also survived by the love of his life, Cristina Decker, and her children, Devin Decker, and Kylie Boyce. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Snyder, and his dog, Brody.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at First Christian Church, 1880 SW Gage Boulevard, Topeka KS 66604. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the church. Cremation will follow funeral service. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Landon’s Fund, sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614.

Penny Jamvold Injured In Accident

Penny Jamvold of Rossville was involved in a crash on May 1, 2017 in Gove County, Kansas. The crash happened at 10:26 AM  on I-70 at mile marker 77.9 or alternate location 1.9 miles East of Oakley. She was injured and taken to a hospital.
