Amanda Hill In KBCA All-Star Game
Recent RHS graduate Amanda Hill scored ten points, going 4 of 5 from the field in Friday night's KBCA girls All-Star game.
From the Capital-journal:
BLUE GIRLS 86, WHITE GIRLS 84 — Representing 1A Division II champion Waverly in Saturday night’s KBCA girls All-Star game, Bailey Massoth was a little worried about how she would fare against players from bigger schools.
But even though Massoth’s White team came up just short in a two-point loss to the Blue, she was pleased with how her night turned out.
Massoth scored 14 points and went 3 of 4 from 3-point range, including a half-court shot at the halftime buzzer that gave the White a 42-40 lead.
“I was a little nervous because comparing 1A to 6A is a big difference in how people play, but it was a great game and a great experience,” Massoth said. “I think I played pretty well. I was kind of nervous at the beginning so it was kind of iffy, but I was fine when the game started.”
Massoth’s highlight was her half-court make just as the buzzer sounded.
“To be honest, I practice those all the time in practice,” said Massoth, who is headed to St. Mary’s University in Leavenworth. “I was just glad to make it.”
Cassidy Haufler, from 1A Centralia, also had a solid night for the White, finishing with nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while Council Grove’s Faith Brintle had 13 points and Rossville’s Amanda Hill 10. Wichita West’s Brianna Johnson led the White with 16 points. Topeka High’s Erica Birch scored four points for the White.
Olathe South’s DejaNae Roebuck and Cheney’s Haley Albers keyed the South win with 16 points apiece while Paola’s Matti Morgan had 12 points and Circle’s Kali Martin 11.
