Rossville 2A Cross Country Results

The Rossville Dawgs competed at the 2A Cross Country Regional hosted by Wabaunsee on Saturday, October 26th. It was a beautiful morning with temperatures in the upper 40's and low 50's during race times.

The Lady Dawgs, defending Regional Champions, faced a new challenger this year - Bennington. After seeing two athletes sidelined because of injuries in the last few weeks, the Bulldawgs were not at full strength in numbers and fell just short in defending their title. Bennington took the team title with 51 points, while Rossville was Regional Runner-Up with 54 points. The Top Three Teams qualify for State, so the Lady Dawgs will be headed to Wamego next Saturday, November 2nd - looking to improve upon last year's 4th place finish.

Lady Dawg Regional Results (Top 10 Medaled)

Julia Streit (3rd - 21:18)
Amelia Foster (5th - 21:40)
Jula Seidel (7th - 22:00)
Emma Streit (15th - 23:07)
Cassie Fund (27th - 24:15)
Reagan Wonnell (30th -24:23)

On the Boy's side, it was an exciting race, with Zach Archer and Sam Twombly running side-by-side for a large portion of the race, within the Top-10. Plagued by a side-stitch, Sam Twombly dropped off pace in the last mile and finished 16th, out of state qualifying position. Zach Archer was running strong, but lost a few positions in the final half-mile, moving into 11th place by the finish. Because of the variability of state qualifiers in cross country, there was still a chance he could qualify, but no additional runners outside the top 10 ended up being accepted. The Boy's team will continue to improve greatly in years to come, with 3 freshmen and 2 sophomores in the ranks.

Verbal Threat Not Credible

From the Rossville Police Dept.
On 10/22/19 a student at Rossville Junior-Senior High made inappropriate statements to fellow students that were threatening in nature to other students at the school. The statements were reported to school administration who took appropriate action to safeguard our children. After investigation by school administrators and the Rossville Police Department, the threats were determined not to be credible. The threats made were not backed up by intent, ability, or resources to carry them out. Several rumors, including one of a supposed “list” of specifically targeted or threatened students, are false. Rossville is a small community and most of our children attend school here. This includes children of USD # 321 staff and the employees of the Rossville Police Department. We are all invested in the safety of our community and specifically, that of our children. The Rossville Police Department wishes to thank USD # 321 administration and staff for their cooperation and response to this unfortunate incident.
