Alivia Sherer To Compete At State

Senior Alivia Sherer will make her third trip to 3-1A state tennis on Friday, the only Rossville girl to ever play at the state meet.

Sherer will take on the competition gathered at Kossover Tennis Center in Topeka this weekend while her team, the Hayden Wildcats, sends six girls to 4A state at Prairie Village. Sherer joined the Hayden team her freshman year via a co-op agreement because Rossville does not offer a tennis program. The arrangement requires that, come playoff time, the Rossville players compete in their home school’s level of classification.

The arrangement allowed Sherer to make a new set of friends and to enjoy the team experience she wouldn’t otherwise have had.

Being the outsider wasn’t easy at first, Sherer recalled, but she never had to do it alone. Each of the Past four years at least one other Rossville girl has joined Sherer on the Hayden team.

Rossville Inv. Girls Golf Tournament

The  Rossville girls golf team finished in 4th place of six teams at the Rossville Invitational.   Their score of 198 was below Silver Lake (163), Osage City (171) and Jeff West (191)
