Rossville leads the St. Marys Bears 35-10 at the half. The Dawgs scored 3 TDs in the first quarter and two more in the second. The Bears kicked a 41 yard field goal and then scored a TD on a pass into the end zone with 6 seconds left in the second quarter.
At the end, it was Dawgs 63 and Bears 10.

Sub-State Voleyball Oct. 22
The RHS volleyball team will compete in the Sub-State tournamen at Riley Co. HS on Oct. 22. The Lady Dawgs are seeded seventh and will play number two seed St. Marys in the first round at 2:00 PM.
Teams competing will be: Council Grove, Mission Valley, SE of Saline, Marion, Riley County, Rossville, Silver Lake, St. Marys

Chili Dinner At FB Game
The Jr. High cheerleaders will be selling a bowl of chili, desert, and a drink for $5 at the football game against St. Marys this Friday, Oct. 21.
RHS-Wabaunsee Volleyball
The RHS volleyball team defeated Wabaunsee twice on Oct. 18. The scores were 25-19, 25-21 and then 21-26, 25-12, 25-17. The Lady Dawgs finished the regular season with a 4-6 Mid-East record.

State Girls Golf Tournament
Three RHS girls qualified for the 3A state golf tournament as individuals. Kathleen Shuler finished in a tie for 36th with a 111 score. Emily Woodcock tied for 39th with a 112. Jessica Sowers finished 77th.
There were 86 girls competing at the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City on Oct. 17th.

Daryl & Shirley Mitchell Celebrate 50th
Daryl and Shirley Mitchell of Rossville, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. The couple wed Oct. 22, 1966, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Delia. They have five children, Ronda (Bryan) Rabe, Delia; Candy (Curt) Brecheisen, Jody (Sarah) Mitchell, Monte (Katie) Mitchell, and Randi (Brandon) Channel, all of Rossville; and 10 grandchildren.

The Owls couldn’t convert on a two-point conversion early in the fourth quarter and then saw a fourth-and-2 pass at the Conway Springs 12 fall incomplete last as the Cardinals pulled off the 21-20 upset.

Hoisington struggled some against
high-octane Ellsworth, a team that had won four straight contests, but
eventually won 39-20 in District 15 action. Ellsworth led 6-0 and 12-6 in the
first half before the Cardinals tied the game at 12 on a touchdown from Hunter
Hanzlick. In the second half, the Cardinals pulled away as Hanzlick scored for
a 24-12 lead. Cam Davis added another rushing score for a 31-12 lead.
Hoisington has won 24 straight regular season contests. The win put the
Cardinals in a great position for the district title with Larned and Lyons, two
teams that were winless entering districts, in the final two weeks.

Silver Lake remained undefeated with a
49-0 victory against Oskaloosa in its District 3 opener. The Eagles scored 21
points in each of the first two quarters. Dalton Dultmeier had runs of 49, 16
and 14 yards and rushed for an 11-yard score.

Phillipsburg rolled over TMP, 58-18, in
a road victory in its District 14 opener and stayed undefeated. This week, the
Panthers travel to rival Norton (5-2, 1-0) in a matchup that’s expected to
decide both spots in District 14 play. The Panthers led 34-0 at the end of the
first quarter after a punt return score with one second left in the quarter.
Phillipsburg was up 55-0 with 3:51 left in the second quarter.

Rossville pulled away from Mission
Valley, 49-27, in a battle of teams that entered with just one loss in District
4 – a quartet that also features Council Grove (6-1). The game was tied at
seven after the first quarter when Rossville outscored the Vikings 21-7 in the
second quarter and 17-0 in the third quarter. Jacob Bradshaw collected five
touchdown runs of five, 34, 54, seven and nine yards. He rushed 30 times for
261 yards. Clay Phillips threw a 40-yard pass, a 56-yard scoring run, and
rushed 29 times for 161 yards for the Vikings.

Nemaha Central delivered a 20-14 win
against rival Sabetha in a matchup of undefeated teams in District 1. The
Thunder, which moved into the rankings for the first time, stopped Sabetha on
three first-half drives inside NC territory, including once at the one-yard
line before halftime. Luke Haverkamp scored the game-winning touchdown on a
one-yard run with 57.9 seconds left. NC trailed 14-7 entering the fourth
quarter. Sabetha held a 272-230 yardage edge.
