Linda (Dennis) Rasch Passes Away

A beautiful life was cut short Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Linda Dennis Rasch died just two days after her birthday. She was born June 18, 1941 in Kingston, Oklahoma to Lois and Carlice Dennis. She was raised in Oklahoma and Kansas with her surviving siblings, Wendyl Dennis, Pete Dennis and her only sister, Sue Dennis Marchant.

Linda married the love of her life, Wayne, in 1961. While Wayne finished his college career, Linda provided a home for him and their children. Wayne was commissioned into the Army through the ROTC program. The Army brought the Rasch family to Augusta, Georgia. They moved to Athens in 1973.

Linda's career life was all about helping and enjoying people. She taught pre-school at First Presbyterian Church for many years. Her path changed and she began working for The Elephant Trunk, dressing young children, most of whom she had taught. After children's clothing, she made the change to adults. Linda worked at Heery's Clothes Closet for over 20 years. Countless loyal friends and customers wanted Linda to dress them. After retiring a few years ago, she enjoyed volunteering at her church, playing bridge, and spending quality time with her many friends. Her family was her heart and the core of her life. Linda was a genuine, generous, Christian woman, always thinking of others before herself.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Wayne Rasch. Her children Paul Rasch (Shirley), Chad Rasch, John David Rasch (Jennifer), and her only daughter Linsey Rasch Jarrett (Johnny) also survive Linda. She lost her beloved son, Brad Rasch just over a year ago. Also surviving Linda are her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Carli Rasch Bushoven (Scott), Millican Dennis Jarrett, Seele Hayes Jarrett, Hayes Bushoven, Wells Bushoven, Carrie Savage and Sutton Cummins. Several nieces and nephews in Oklahoma and Kansas also survive Linda.

A memorial service is planned for Monday, June 25, 2018 at 11 in the morning at Frist United Methodist Church in Athens, Georgia. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Weekday Preschool at 327 N. Lumpkin Street, Athens, Georgia 30601.

Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
