This Saturday, Junction City will host the National Biplane Fly-In and the opener for both the Junction City Brigade and Rossville Rattlers Baseball teams. A good place to spend the day if you are not attending the RHS alumni dinner/dance on Saturday night.
The National Biplane Fly-In will bring biplanes, experimental and fixed winged planes from across the USA to Freeman Field in Junction City. Gates will open at 7:00 am with a pancake feed. Rides will be available for a charge in a Biplane or Helicopter. At 12 PM, a formation flying contest will begin. Guest can walk the plane parking area and get up close to the planes and talk with the pilots. Static display and vendors will be on-site
At 7 p.m., baseball returns to historic Rathert Stadium. The Junction City Brigade Baseball Team will kick off the season with a game against the Rossville Rattlers. KC Royals Hall of Famer Dennis Leonard and the Commanding General of Fort Riley, General Funk, will throw out the first pitches.
