Purney and Hill Get WU Scholarships

RHS STUDENTS RECEIVE WASHBURN AWARDS

Rossville High School seniors Amanda Hill and Sydney Purney were recently honored at a recognition reception held on Washburn University’s campus on Mon., Mar. 13, 2017. They were among over 100 Shawnee County seniors receiving awards. Each received a certificate and mug with the Washburn University insignia. Both young ladies were awarded a $1000 Presidential Scholarship based on their GPA and ACT scores. Amanda was also awarded a $2500 Academic Scholarship. Both scholarships are renewable for all four years of attendance at Washburn. Amanda will be playing basketball for the Ichabods while she is pursuing her degree in Nursing. Sydney will pursue her degree in Radiology Tech and Sonography. She is currently completing a program at Washburn Tech to receive her CNA certification.
