Bulldawg Football Preview

ROSSVILLE (KSNT) – The Rossville Bulldogs are coming off a 12-win season a year ago, and a trip to the state tournament.
In the Class 3A semi-finals, they suffered their only loss of the season, to arch-rival and state champion, Silver Lake.
This year, Rossville will have a very competitive schedule, which includes a matchup, in October, against the defending Class 2-1A state champion, Centralia. Their rematch with Silver Lake isn’t until the final game of the regular season.
“Our ultimate goal is a state championship,” said Rossville head coach Derick Hammes. “We like to set the standard as high as it can be.”
“We’ve been waiting all year, ever since our season ended to play again,” said senior defensive end and tackle Terrence Sowers. “I’ve been looking forward to getting back out here with the guys and building good chemistry.”
“We’re hard-nosed players, and we’re fast,” said senior fullback and linebacker Nick Reesor. “We’re also very athletic. It should be a great season, but potential is just a word. We got to go get it this year.”
The Mid-East League will provide a challenge each and every week.
“I think everybody in the league will be better,” said Hammes. “And I think because we did some good things last year, that they’ll be some people shooting for us as well.
Rossville begins its 2014 season on September 5 when they welcome Clay Center to town.
