ROSSVILLE (7-2) AT NEMAHA CENTRAL (7-2)
The two small-school
powers haven’t played in three years, but their last two meetings were big
ones. Rossville knocked off 27-22 in the 2016 3A state semifinals and went on
to capture its third straight Class 3A state championship. The two also met in
the second round in 2015 with Tucker Horak’s monster game leading Rossville to
a 61-20 win. There’s another Horak guiding Rossville this year with sophomore
Torrey having rushed for 1,044 yards and 16 touchdowns and thrown for 939 yards
and 16 scores. Woodrow Rezac has added 793 yards and nine scores on the ground
and Bo Reeves had 500 yards receiving and eight TDs. Nemaha Central has won six
straight since a 1-2 start with the losses coming to Sabetha (13-6) and Holton
(28-14). Dylan Schultejans has thrown for 1,337 yards and 19 touchdowns with
four receivers having at least 15 catches and 220 yards. Rossville’s only
losses came to Silver Lake (14-13) and Riley County (34-15).
