Cowdin Is Manager Of The Year

Mid-Plains League Manager of the Year

Tobi Cowdin - Rossville Rattlers

Coach Tobi Cowdin has won the League's Manager of the Year award for the second consecutive year. Tobi led the Rattlers to a League Championship in 2015 and has accumulated 37 wins in the past two seasons.

"Coach Cowdin has quickly earned a tremendous amount of respect from his peers in the Mid-Plains League," League Commissioner David Streeter said. "Tobi has a great ability to communicate with not only players, but opposing teams. He shows a great deal of respect to them and is one of the nicest people you will ever meet."

After staring out 5-12 this season, the Rattlers have battled their way back into contention and are a serious contender for the Cowdin Cup.

Rossville has won series against both division winners; Junction City and three wins against Baldwin City. Along with those two big second half series victories, they also won a series against the Topeka Golden Giants that propelled them into the 3rd seed in the West Bracket.

Tobi adds his name again along with John Tetuan (2014 Topeka) to the of Manager of the Year.

Rattlers Lose Sunday 9-8 (Updated)

ROSSVILLE (KSNT) – Back-to-back home runs from Cole Breichesen and Collin Chandler to start the game was a pretty good sign for the Brigade as Junction City is headed to the Cowdin Cup finals after beating Rossville 9-8 in game two of the semifinals.
Junction City took an early lead after scoring 3 runs in the first inning, however the Rattlers were able to answer quickly as Danny Mitchell Jr. tied the game up with a 3-run homerun in the bottom of the first.
Breichesen hit his second home run of the day in the 2nd inning to regain the lead for JC, but just like the first, Rossville answered back by scoring a run in the bottom half to tie it.
This game would go back and forth, as it was tied at 8-8, in the 8th inning before Junction City took the lead and sealed the victory.

Rattlers Play Sunday Night

Game two of the series with the Junction City Brigade to see who represents the Western Division of the Mid Plains League will be played at Joe Campbell Stadium at 7:00 PM on Sunday.
Junction City leads the series 1-0 with their 11-10 win on Friday night.
The players and host families will meet in front of the dugout on Sunday night at 6:30 PM  to recognize the host families for this year.

Rattlers Lose in 12th Inning

A single to right field by Kasey Clark in the bottom of the 12th inning scored Franke Valle from third base and lifted the Junction City Brigade to an 11-10 victory in 12 innings over the Rossville Rattlers Friday night at Rathert Field.
The win came in the first game of their best two-out-of-three semifinal round playoff series in the Mid Plains League Cowdin Cup playoffs. Game two is at 7 p.m. Sunday in Rossville.  It was originally scheduled for Sat. night.
Junction City led in the contest Friday night 6-2 and 9-6 but Rossville took advantage of three consecutive walks and the Brigade’s inability to complete a rundown play when Danny Mitchell Jr. was caught between first and second base in the eighth inning. Mitchell eventually made it safely back to first base, but in the meantime the Rattlers had scored the tying run from third to make it 9-9. When neither team scored in the ninth the game went into extra innings.
