Notes — After getting beat for the first time last week, Garden Plain played the spoiler for Chaparral’s bid for an undefeated season, knocking off the Roadrunners 20-14 at Nate Pauly scored three straight touchdowns after Chaparral took an early 6-0 lead. No. 1 Silver Lake got a huge scare from Perry-Lecompton, holding on for a 21-19 win after getting down 12-7 in the third quarter.

Hoisington had some trouble with one-win
Larned and its trick plays in District 15 and Central Kansas League play but
eventually pulled away for a 56-27 road victory. The Cardinals have now
captured 25 straight regular season contests and has won the district. Hunter
Hanzlick had 16 carries for 146 yards and three TDs. He is 29 yards away from
being the Cardinals’ all-time rushing leader. Hoisington has one of the best
resumes for all classes with home wins against Wichita Collegiate, Washington
County and Nickerson and a road victory against Pratt. The Cardinals have
played the No. 7 SOS in Class 3A, according to Prep Power Index, with a collective
margin of 354-100. Larned started the game with a double reverse for a 7-0
lead. Larned closed to 21-13 with another reverse pass, but Hoisington led
35-13 at halftime.

#2 SILVER LAKE (8-0)
Last: Won 21-19 vs. Perry-Lecompton
In District 3 play, Silver Lake moved to 8-0,
2-0 with a home 21-19 victory against Perry-Lecompton. The Eagles led 7-0 at
halftime before the Kaws scored 12 points in the third quarter take a 12-7
lead. Keenan Baird scored his second rushing TD to give Silver Lake the lead
back 14-12 after three quarters. Dalton Dultmeier added a TD in the fourth
quarter to lead 21-12, and Perry-Lecompton scored on Jordan Spreer's second TD
pass of the game. This season, Silver Lake has won two games by eight points or
fewer and another one by 13 points. The Eagles play at Royal Valley this week.

#3 PHILLIPSBURG (8-0)
Last: Won 36-13 @ Norton
Phillipsburg won the Mid-Continent League with
a 36-13 road win against Norton. Phillipsburg broke a 13-13 tie in the second
quarter and tallied a touchdown and safety late to lead 22-13 at halftime. The
Panthers, 3-7 in the 10 meetings versus the rival Bluejays, have won 15
straight contests. Phillipsburg has won District 14.

#4 ROSSVILLE (7-1)
Last: Won 63-10 vs. St. Marys
Rossville won 63-10 against St. Marys. Jacob
Bradshaw completed all five of his passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns.
Bradshaw also rushed for 116 yards and two scores. The Bulldawgs, in
challenging District 4, is 7-1, 2-0, while Mission Valley and Council Grove are
both 6-2, 1-1. Rossville is at Council Grove this week.

#5 NEMAHA CENTRAL (8-0)
Last: Won 53-0 vs. Riverside
Nemaha Central rolled over Riverside, 53-0,
and remained undefeated. The Thunder are 2-0 in District 1, while Sabetha and
Hiawatha are 1-1. Nemaha Central will play at Hiawatha (4-4) this Thursday.

Cross Country Regional Results
I'm pleased to announce some fantastic results from the 3A Regional meet this past Saturday, hosted by Riley County at the Leonardville Golf Course.
Thanks to a number of substantial personal best performances and tough running, the St. Marys XC Girls team, comprised of Rachel Hutley, Erica Shults, Callie Perry, Emily Stewart, and Layne Cole, placed 3rd and have qualified for the State Meet next Saturday, October 29th at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence.
The Rossville XC Girls all ran brave races and have qualified three individuals for the State Meet, after finishing a very strong 4th as a team - Katie Dohrman, Taylor Bittner, and MaKenzie Decklar.

Dawgs Lead Bears At Half Time (Updated)
Rossville leads the St. Marys Bears 35-10 at the half. The Dawgs scored 3 TDs in the first quarter and two more in the second. The Bears kicked a 41 yard field goal and then scored a TD on a pass into the end zone with 6 seconds left in the second quarter.

Sub-State Voleyball Oct. 22
The RHS volleyball team will compete in the Sub-State tournamen at Riley Co. HS on Oct. 22. The Lady Dawgs are seeded seventh and will play number two seed St. Marys in the first round at 2:00 PM.
