Jaimi Olson Passes Away

Jaimi Chantay Olson, 54, of Rossville, left us to join her Lord on Friday, February 19, 2021. She was born on February 8, 1967, in Holton, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond Vern and Anita (Riley) Armstrong.

Jaimi was a friend to all and loved fiercely. She was tender-hearted, generous and accepted everyone. Her vibrant red hair matched her feisty spirit and spunk. She loved wildlife, her fur babies and sports, especially her K-State Wildcats. She loved the weather channel and talked about how fun it would be to be a storm chaser. Jaimi enjoyed long drives, mini vacations (especially room service), and snowy days. She spent her free time listening to all kinds of music including Big Band music, watching Little House on the Prairie and cooking shows like the Pioneer Woman. Jaimi was a dedicated volunteer for the Rossville Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT for 21 years. She was employed by AT&T for over 20 years and a member of the First Baptist Church in Silver Lake.

Jaimi is survived by the love of her life, Phil D. Olson, whom she married in Topeka on April 3, 1992. Phil & Jaimi’s marriage was an example of true love. She is also survived by her children, Tony (Laurel) Adkins of Topeka, Jennell Olson of Silver Lake, Tiffany (John) Phelan of Hope Mills, North Carolina, Philip (Chelsea) Olson of Topeka, Kristen Simpson of Seal Beach, California, Kelly (Tyler) Shobney of Delia, Madilyn Lira of Delia, twenty grandchildren, one great-grandson, and her siblings, Christian Armstrong of Rossville, Travis (Lisa) Armstrong of Rossville, Lance (Shawna) Armstrong of Concord, California, Mysti (Dustin) Moore of Killeen, Texas, Lynn (Wayne) Fast of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and Deborah (Ken)Trice of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and many nieces and nephews.

Jaimi left this earth and undoubtedly had a joyous reunion with her son, Anthony Vern “Tony” Armstrong Olson, who died at age 12, her mother Anita Armstrong and her nephew Timmy Nesbitt TenEyck, who all preceded her in death.

Services will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 10:00AM, at the First Baptist Church, 3439 NW Hoch Rd., Silver Lake, Kansas 66539. Jaimi will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the church. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place in Rossville Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Rossville Fire Department, 301 US Hwy 24, Rossville, Kansas 66533.
