Woodrow Rezac Sets New 200 M Record

     RHS senior Woodrow Rezac has been winning track events this Spring in both the 100 Meter and 200 Meter runs.  He set a new school record in the 200 of 22.03, breaking the old school record of 22.3  set in 2019.

Baseball Team Wins At Wamego

     The Dawgs are sshowing their might at the critical part of the season with the regional and state tournaments coming May 17.  Rossville picked up wins of 8-3 and 6-3 at Wamego on May 3

RHS Softball At Wamego

     The RHS softball team ventured to Wamego on May 3 and brought back victories of 9-3 and 13-10.   The Lady Dawgs have won their last 6 straight and are 13-3 for the season.

Ray Kovar Inv. Track & Field

Rossville competed in the Ray Kovar Invitational at St. Marys on April 30.    Rossville's best athletes were at the Seaman Relays competing against good athletes from larger schools.  (See   https://www.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/5791439278755503689/6941265922116498543 for the Seaman results.)

Charles McLain Passes Away

Charles A. McLain, Topeka (formerly of Rossville) passed away at home with his family by his side on April 28th, 2021 after a valiant battle with kidney cancer.

Charlie was born July 5th, 1943 to Thomas & Josie Taylor McLain in Senath, MO. He later moved with his family to the St. Louis area, where he met his wife of 28 years, Jo. They later divorced but remained close friends. She preceded him in death.

Charlie retired from Goodyear in 1997 after 33 years of service. Charlie, or "Chuck" was an avid bowler and leaves behind many great friends in the bowling community. He loved spending time at the casino and loved his Royals, Chiefs and Jayhawks. He proudly passed on this love to his family.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Tom, a sister Kathy, nephew Tony and his son, Charles (Chip) McLain. He is survived by three sisters, Freida (Jimmy) Noonan, Brenda (Jerry) Sessums, and Doris Smith. He is also survived by three daughters, LauRay McLain, Topeka, Joi (John) Ridder and Amber (Jeff) Huske, all of Silver Lake, nine grandchildren, Darrell (DJ) and Trint Crosswhite, Jakob and Jennah Ridder, Kali and Garrett Huske, and Ben, Sarah, and Hannah McLain, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Charlie was cremated at his request and arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date

The Lady Dawgs got something to chew on May 29 when Onaga came to Rossville with the home team  picking up wins of  11-0 and  15-0.

Rossville's Woodrow Rezac finished runner-up in the boys' 100 in 10.89 seconds, finishing second to Lansing's Malik Benson (10.55), who swept the 100, 200 and long jump titles.

 Shot Put -- Rossville's Briar Gillum took the shot put title with a throw of 40 feet, 7 inches, moving to No. 4 on the state honor roll this season. She won by nearly two feet over Toala from Junction City.
