Rossville Ready For VB Sub-state

Rossville is 25-3 and headlines the Silver Lake sub-state. West Franklin is 25-5, while SL stands at 23-8, and Olathe Heritage Christian Academy (HCA) is 20-7. This is unquestionably the toughest 3A sub-state and maybe the hardest for 3A on down classes.

HCA is the definite favorite after it won 2A and 3A the last two falls and features its pair of Power 5 junior commits: Rachel Van Gorp (Iowa State) and Cy Rae Campbell (Wake Forest). Two of Rossville’s three losses have come against Silver Lake. Rossville does own quality wins against Ottawa, Wamego, two against Rock Creek, Jackson Heights and Royal Valley.

This past week, Rossville moved into the 3A rankings at No. 10. Royal Valley is ninth in 3A, and Jackson Heights seventh in 2A. HCA is ranked second in 3A.

Rossville has an opportunity for its fourth straight season of increased wins after 21, 25 and 30 the past three falls. The 5-foot-6 Perine has 1,001 career kills in 217 sets for an impressive 4.6 per set. That includes 6.5 per set this year.

CJ Online Article About Dawgs Volleyball

 From CJ Online:

The Rossville volleyball team improved to 24-3 after Tuesday's win over St. Marys at home.

There's just one more tournament and two more dual meets in the regular season until sub-state begins on Oct. 22.

With a blend of returning experience from a team that went 30-9 last year and some new faces are stepping in, Rossville is looking to get over the hump.

Two key players to replace were Caylee Douglass and Briar Gillum.

Douglas had 880 of the team's 1,014 assists last year. The closest player after her had 86. Gillum was second on the team with 289 kills.

This year, two new faces and some returning ones have stepped into larger roles to replace that production.

Last year, Kinley Porter was that closest player with 86 assists. Through 26 games this year, the junior leads the team with 296 of the team's 559 assists.

Junior Giulia Caldart, a foreign exchange student from Italy, has 231.
