Support For Parker Monhollon

ROSSVILLE, Kan. (WIBW) - The loudest cheers at Rossville's home basketball game versus Silver Lake Friday night came at half time of the boy's contest, when 8-year-old Parker Monhollon grabbed her mother, Amanda's hand, and strode to the middle of the court.
It's not often someone from Silver Lake would receive such a welcome in the rival's gym, but this night, after all, was about her.
The 8-year-old Silver Lake girl is battling an inoperable brain tumor. Almost immediately as word of the diagnosis a month ago began to spread, Rossville launched into action planning this benefit to take place when the Eagles visited for their basketball game.
Kim Dick, one of the volunteers assisting with the night, said people in communities beyond just Rossville and Silver Lake responded to requests for donations. The night included a meal, complete with cotton candy and desserts available for purchase, a huge silent auction, t-shirt sales, photo booth and facepainting.
"We all wanted to do whatever we could to support this little girl," Dick said.
The teams also wore special purple shirts during warmup in Parker's honor.
Also worth cheering about at halftime? Parker and her family were presented a check for more than $11,000, representing money raised so far from t-shirt sales.
