Virginia Lett Passes Away

Virginia M. Lett, 90, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born September 29, 1925 at rural Paxico the daughter of Charles and Jeanette Sweeney Gooden. Virginia was raised in the Paxico and Maple Hill communities and graduated from Maple Hill High School.
Mrs. Lett was a farmwife and homemaker. On October 4, 1943 she was united in marriage to Omar A. Lett at Osage City. He preceded her in death on August 28, 2001. She was also preceded in death by a son Alvin in May 1944; 6 siblings and a granddaughter Megan Lett on July 3, 1981.
Survivors include two sons, Alan (Karen) Lett, St. Marys and Loren Lett, Carbondale; a brother, Gene Gooden, Lawrence; a sister, Arlene Widner, Topeka; four grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Lett, Michelle Lett, Lisa Lett and John Lett; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Jacob and Sarah Lett.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Maple Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maple Hill Senior Center and sent in care of the funeral home.
