Warning For Youngsters
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A young girl in St. Marys says a suspicious stranger approached her on the street Tuesday.
St. Marys Police Chief Josh WInkleman says the girl told adults she was walking to a friends house just after 2 pm Tuesday when a man in a light-brown SUV with tinted windows started following her in the 700 block of Alma. She says the man then pulled up in front of her and rolled down the window.
The girl screamed and the man drove off. Winkleman says police responded and searched the area but were unable to find the suspect vehicle.
Police remind you to always be alert and contact police if you see anything suspicious. Winkleman says it's an especially pertinent reminder with so many children outside during this spring break week and as the weather gets warmer.

The Rossville High Alumni Foundation will hold their annual reunion, dinner and party on Saturday, June 4th. It will be held at the Dekat Parish Hall. A catered dinner will be served at 6:00 with plenty of time before that to visit with friends and former classmates. As in years past, we will honor our two $ 1,000 scholarship winners. They will be chosen sometime near the end of April. More details will be provided when plans are finalized.

Lydia (Smatla) Carl (35) Nearing 100
Lydia F. Carl (Lydia Frances Smatla), who lives at Overland Park Place, will turn 100 years young on the 28th. of July, this year. While she deals [now] with difficulty in hearing and vision, and other issues, she's still living "essentially" on her own.
Having joined the Overland Park Presbyterian Church (OPPC) in January of 1958, she continues to keep OPPC in her life. Her husband DON (deceased) was a Ruling Elder, and her son Tom continues to be a member, attending when he's in town from the "wilds" of Colorado. Her second husband (Jim Carl) was a regular attendee as well.
