Luis Manuel Vega, 24, El
Dorado, KS passed away March 24, 2016, at his home. He was a longtime resident
of the Topeka area.
Luis was
born September 8, 1991 in Topeka, KS to Connie and Daniel Vega. He graduated
from Rossville High School in 2012. He participated in Special Olympics with
the Washburn Rural Junior Blues team, participating in bowling and wheelchair
track and field events. Luis was active in the community through his day
program at Easter Seals Capper Foundation. He had a contagious smile, an upbeat
attitude, and a passion for peanut butter cups. However, he could show a
mischievous side when least expected. His staff immediately fell in love with
this young man, and one working in another home even asked for a transfer to
work with Luis after she met him!
Luis was
a super-hero who never gave up! He loved Disney movies, Sponge Bob, bright
lights, and music.
Mr. Vega
is survived by his father, Daniel Vega; six brothers - Jasper Burns, Shawn
Burns, Adam Burns, Juan Vega, Derek Burns, Jacob Burns; five sisters - Janice
Cazares, Alicia Burns, Jessica Guerrero, Rebecca Burns, Heaven Burns; his
guardian, Crystal Nelson and her family; his staff, roommates, and friends.
He was
preceded in death by his mother Connie Vega on January 9, 2005.
Services
will be Friday at 11am at Davidson Funeral Home with viewing from 10-11am.
Graveside services will follow at Topeka Cemetery. Memorial contributions may
be made through the funeral home to Easter Seals Capper Foundation.
