Elzora (Marney) Homan Passes Away
Elzora M. Homan, 82, Topeka, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018.
She was born October 23, 1935, in McFarland, Kansas, to James "Ivan "and Mamie (Belcher) Marney. Elzora attended Rossville Schools. She completed requirements for the GED, while working and raising four children, earning a Topeka High School diploma.
Elzora married James E. Homan November 1, 1952. He preceded her in death October 29, 2016.
She worked first at Topeka State Hospital, then at Kansas Neurological Institute, before returning to Topeka State as administrator of medical records. She retired from this position in 1993.
Elzora enjoyed fishing, doing crossword puzzles, and solving crimes on her favorite show, Law and Order SVU. She especially enjoyed long drives in the country looking for deer and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert and James Marney and a sister, Toria Marney.
Survivors include son, Mike Homan (Marilyn); daughters Judi Kutzke (Bob); Barbara Kutzke (Randy) all of Topeka and daughter Pattie Homan of Silver Lake, Kansas; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Benjamin "Bud" Marney (Letha) of Scottsdale, Arizona; brother-in-law Ray Homan; sister-in-law Mary Homan and her beloved dog, Bella.
The family thanks Midland Hospice and Stormont Vail Hospital for the care they gave their mother.
A graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 11, at Prairie Home Cemetery, 35th and Menoken Rd., just northwest of Topeka.
Elzora was a member of the Kansas Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Helping Hands Humane Society of Topeka or Midland Care Hospice. Online guestbook and obituary at www.kansascremation.com.
